Freinsheimer Cabernet Sauvignon - Another rising red wine star in the Pfalz?

The Pfalz region has in recent years become known for also producing some quite appreciated red wines besides its very well known Rieslings, Weißburgunder and Grauburgunder. Some estates are recognized for being precursors in reinventing German red wines by introducing "international" varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. Knipser in Laumersheim or Schneider in Ellerstadt are 2 estates that can't be left out in this context. But others have seen the success and start following this model. Hence, another red wine I had this summer was this Cabernet from Rings Estate in Freinsheim. It is a family estate where the wines are now made by the 2 brothers Steffen and Andreas who are born in 1978 and 1986. Needless to say there is some young dynamism at work in the vineyards and the cellar, and that might also be the reason that the focus has been put on red wines.
So, concerning this bottle of 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon "S", I have to admit that... I lost my notes and thus can't report properly on it. But I do remember that I enjoyed it and contemplated the bottle and label with a look of confusion and admiration on my face. I am definitely intrigued and determined to try some more of the estates' wine on occasion. Well actually this post is all about the fact that I have a new estate on my wine map I guess, and I thought I should let the world know.
